A Lightroom plug-in for keyword counting in Adobe Lightroom

Keyword Counter plug-in on Adobe Lightroom -ohjelman lisäosa joka lisää ohjelman tietokantaan tallennetuille kuville uuden metadata -kentän. Tähän kenttään voidaan sitten kirjoittaa pluginilla (tai käsin) kuvakohtaisesti kuvaan liitettyjen avainsanojen lukumäärä.
Uusi metadata -kenttä on Lightroom -ohjelman sisäisesti käyttämä. Sitä ei siis lisätä kuvan EXIF/IPTC -tietoihin eikä sitä voida lukea taikka käyttää Lightroom:in ulkopuolelta/ulkopuolella. Kentän lisääminen ei muuta kuvatiedostoja mitenkään.

Kuvakohtaisten avainsanojen lukumäärien lisäyksen jälkeen tietoa voidaan käyttää helposti määritettäessä Smart Collection -osuudessa kokoelman hakuehtoa. Voit esimerkiksi tehdä Smart Collection -kokoelman, joka näyttää vain kuvat, joille on asetettu X kappaletta avainsanoja.

Vaatimukset

Plugin on kehitetty käyttäen Adobe Lightroom -ohjelman versiota 2.6 MS-Windows7 -käyttöjärjestelmässä.

Plugin vaatii Lightroom -ohjelmasta vähintään version 2.0.

Mikäli plugin ei toimi odotetulla tavalla, pyydän lähettämään tiedot virheestä jolloin voin (toivottavasti) korjata virheen tuleviin versioihin.

Kuinka asennetaan?

1. Lataa plug-in:in ZIP -tiedosto, ja pura se haluamaasi paikkaan kovalevyllesi.
   ZIP -tiedostosta pitäisi syntyä hakemisto keywordcounter.lrplugin ja sen alle seitsemän tiedostoa.
2. Käynnistä Adobe Lightroom -ohjelma, ja sen Plug-in Manager 'Tiedosto' (File) -valikosta. Kuva. Kuva.
3. Lisää plug-in Lightroom:iin käyttäen Plug-in Manager:ia: paina vasemman alakulman "Add" -painiketta ja valitse ZIP:stä purkamasi keywordcounter.lrplugin -hakemisto (valitset siis hakemiston, ei mitään yksittäistä tiedostoa hakemiston sisältä). Kuva kun plug-in on asennettu onnistuneesti
4. Kun plug-in asentuu, hyväksy pyyntö lisätä uudet kentät tietokantaan.
   Mikäli et tätä tee, plug-in ei toimi.
5. Kun asennus on valmis, sulje Plug-in manager -ikkuna.

Plug-in voidaan poistaa Lightroom:sta käyttäen samaa Plug-in Manager -ikkunaa (valitse plug-in ikkunan vasemman reunan luettelosta ja paina alareunan Remove -nappia). Poiston yhteydessä poistuu myös plug-in:in lisäämä metadata -kenttä.

Kuinka käytetään?

Plug-in:in asentamisen jäljiltä Lightroom:in näytön oikean reunan Metadata -paneelissa on näkyvissä uusi osio "Keyword Counter" ja osiossa kenttä "# of keywords". Kuva.
(osion näkyminen on riippuvainen Metadata -paneelin osioiden näyttöasetuksesta ja "Keyword Counter" -osion saat näkyviin valitsemalla näkyvyysasetukseksi joko "All" tai "All Plug-in Metadata".)

Plug-in:n käyttö:

1. Avaa plug-in -ikkuna 'Tiedosto' (File) -valikosta (File-Plug-in Extras-Keyword Counter). Kuva.
2. Valitse mitkä kuvat haluat käsitellä: kaikki (All) Lightroom:in tietokannassa (Kuva) vaiko vain halutun päivän jälkeen kuvatut (Kuva). Päivämäärä annetaan muodossa VVVV-KK-PP
   Kun plug-in käsittelee kuvien metatietoja (lukee avainsanat ja kirjoittaa niiden lukumäärät uuteen metadata -kenttään), näytetään suorituksen etenemisestä kertova ikkuna. Tietojen keruun ja kirjoituksen kesto riippuu analysoitavien kuvien lukumäärästä sekä käytettävän tietokoneen tehokkuudesta.
3. Kun plug-in on lisännyt avainsanojen määrät kuvan metatietoihin (kuva), näytetään tietoikkuna josta selviää analysoitujen kuvien määrä. Kuva. Suljettuasi tietoikkunan, plug-in:n työ on tällä erää tehty.
4. Nyt voit tehdä uuden Smart Collection:in käyttäen "# of keywords" -metadatakenttää hakuehtona. Kuva.
   Huomaa käyttää ehtoa contains words, koska muuten Lightroom ei tee eroa esimerkiksi lukemien 1 ja 11 välillä (eli ehdossa tulee aina etsiä kokonaisia lukuja).

Kun lisäät uusia kuvia Ligthroom:in tietokantaan, voit lisätä avainsanojen lukumäärä -tiedon kuville kolmella tavalla:

1. kirjoita itse käsin jokaiselle kuvalle erikseen avainsanojen lukumäärä plug-in:in lisäämään metadata -kenttään ("# of keywords")
2. ajamalla plug-in:in uudelleen halutun päivän jälkeen kuvatuille kuville
3. ajamalla plug-in:in uudelleen kaikille Lightroom:in tietokannassa oleville kuville. Tämä päivittää avainsanojen lukumäärätiedon kuville joille se on jo aiemmin lisätty sekä lisää tiedon uusille kuville.

What is it? And how and for what to use it?

Keyword Counter plug-in is an addon to Adobe Lightroom program. It adds a new metadata field to the database used in Lightroom. Into this new metadata field one can then enter either manually or by using the plug-in a number which tells how many keywords are there defined for a photo.
The new metadata field is only used internally by Lightroom. It is not added to EXIF/IPTC data of the photo and thus can not be exported with photo nor used from outside Lightroom. Adding the new metadata field does not alter the images stored into Lightroom database in any way.

After the number of keywords has been added to the metadata of photos, this number can then be used as an filter rule when defining Smart Collections. You can construct a Smart Collection that shows only photos with X number of keywords.

Requirements

The plug-in has been developed using Adobe Lightroom v.2.6 on a MS-Windows7 computer.

At least version 2.0 of Adobe Lightroom is required by the plug-in to work.

If the plug-in does not work as expected, please send feedback so that I (hopefully) can make it work.

How to install?

1. Download the plug-in ZIP file, and unzip it into your hard drive.
   The re should be only one directoty called keywordcounter.lrplugin with seven files inside it.
2. Start Lightroom, and open the Plug-in Manager from File menu. Picture. Picture.
3. Add the plug-in into Lightroom using the Plug-in Manager: press the "Add" button located at the lower left corner of the window and select the keywordcounter.lrplugin directory (you should select the directory, not any of the files inside it). 4. When the plug-in is installed, there is an question shown asking if a new database fields are OK to install. You have to accept this in order the plug-in to work correctly.
5. When the plug-in has been installed, you can close the Plug-in manager window.

The plug-in can be uninstalled from Lightroom using the same Plug-in Manager window that was used while installing the plug-in (select the plug-in from the list of plug-in's at the left of the window and press the "Remove" button located at the lower left corner of the window). When uninstalling the plug-in, also the new metadata field is removed from the database.

How to use?

After the plug-in has been installed, there is an new section called "Keyword Counter" with one field ("# of keywords") in the Metadata panel of Lightroom (usually shown at the right side of the screen, press F8 -key to show is not visible). Picture.
(the visibility of the section within the panel depends on the section visibility setting of the panel, the "Keyword Counter" section can be seen if either "All" or "All Plug-in Metadata" is set as the visibility setting)

Usage:

1. Open the plug-in dialog from File menu (File-Plug-in Extras-Keyword Counter). Picture.
2. From the dropdown list, select what photos you want the plug-in to process: All photos stored intop Lightroom database (Picture) or only photos captured after a given date (Picture). The date is giden in format YYYY-MM-DD
   When the plug-in is processing the metadata of the photos (by reading the keywords and storing the number of them into the new metadata field), there is an progress dialog shown. The length of the data collection and storing depends on the number of photos to analyze and on the power of the computer system used.
3. After the plug-in have updated the number of keywords to the metadata of the photos (Picture), a information dialog is shown containing the number of processed photos. Picture. After closing the information dialog, the plug-in has done it's job for now.
4. You can now define a new Smart Collection and use the "# of keywords" metadata field as an filter rule. Picture.
   Please note that you have to use the condition contains words, because Lightroom does not make any difference for example numbers 1 ja 11 (always use whole numbers as an rule).

When you later add new photos to the database in Lightroom, you can update the number of keywords metadata for those photos in three ways:

1. by manually writing the number of keywords to the metadata field ("# of keywords") for each added photo separately
2. by running the plug-in again and processing only the photos added after a specified date
3. by running the plug-in again and processing all photos in the Lightroom database. This will update the data for photos already having the number in the metadata and adds the number of keywords to the metadata for new photos
